The Great Mouse Hunt

"mice? you're afraid of teeny tiny little mice? hahahaha!"
It wasn't till later that night when that comment came back to bite me!

Of late, i have found it of great difficulty to get to sleep. My internal clock has decided that 2 in the morning is a good sleeping time for me, even if i have an 8am class the next morning. So imagine my great accomplishment when i find myself falling asleep just after 12... A great improvment.
My bliss did not last long however, as my half conscious state became more conscious of a noise. Not just any noise, but a distinct scratching - from the corner of my room. Now anyone who has experienced the fright of hearing a critter scratching around in your room will know fully well that you are now no longer half asleep - But Wide awake...

Frozen in bed, listening for the sound again (just in case it was in fact my imagination), i ran through several possibilities in my head: maybe it was coming from upstairs - they have been having mice trouble upstairs; maybe it was coming from outside - a squirrel?.
But then my fears were confirmed: not my imagination and defiantly not upstairs or outside...

Heart pounding, i sit up as quietly as i can and reach for the light switch - i want to catch the critter in action! I flick on the light while staring in the direction of where the scratching came from and there in the corner was, nothing.
But i was not fooled, i knew it was probably hiding behind the trash can.

It was then that all the bravery i had had earlier dissipated - too scared to climb down from my bed, i reached for my slipper and sent it hultling towards the trashcan.

It worked! The little disturber bolted from behind the trashcan - i skwealed like a little girl - and watched as it ran under my bed. I did not see if it retreated out the door or not, and i knew i would not sleep at all if i didn't check every nook and cranny of the room to make sure it was gone.
So like the coward i turned out to be, I reached for my rain boots - i couldn't go mouse hunting with bare feet!!

After checking the whole room - and being scared of putting my face near the ground, i decided that the mouse must have found an escape route out the room...

As much as i tried to sleep that night - i couldn't. I kept lying awake - waiting. Every little sound, my heart raced. It was truly pathetic.

The next day i lay down countless glue traps, but i hope the mouse doesn't come back cos, having to deal with a mouse stuck to glue - EEEeeewwwwww
